This event is free and open to everyone. It runs 1-8 p.m. Aug. 31 at Citizens' Circle in Ocala, behind City Hall at 151 SE Osceola Ave. Vendors, food trucks, information and help with overdose. Cornhole Under The Lights
This fundraiser will be held 6-11 p.m. Sept. 6 at the Ocala Marketplace Pavilion, Southeast Third Street between Osceola Avenue and Southeast Third Avenue, Ocala. The event, hosted by Team Cone and JMA Productions, benefits Kimberly’s Center for Child Protection, The Fostering Foundation and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. According to organizers, there will be 108 cornhole players (54 teams) competing in three tournaments: Battle of the Bars, Battle of the Agencies and Open Public Tournament. There will be food trucks, a live auction, live music and more.
The Boss Project: A Tribute to Bruce Springsteen

O Som Do Jazz

Kingdom of the Sun Concert Band: 'The Musical World of Disney'
For its September concert the band will partner with Once Upon a Party LLC. The shows will be 2 p.m. Sept. 14 and 3 p.m. Sept. 15 at Marion Technical Institute, 1614 SE Fort King St., Ocala. Free and open to the public.
Patrons can have their pictures taken with the characters and enjoy their vocal numbers with the band's accompaniment.
"Captain Jack Sparrow will entertain you with his introduction of the song 'Pirates of the Caribbean at World's End' along with Ariel singing 'Part of Your World.' We also will be featuring Elizabeth Graff on alto sax playing 'Let It Go' with the band," organizers say. "Kids can wear their Disney costumes and join the parade down the aisles during the 'Mickey Mouse March.' "
The opening act, 45 minutes prior to each concert, is Uniqulele.
'Molly of Denali: An Alaskan Adventure'
"The acclaimed PBS KIDS series produced by GBH Kids, MOLLY OF DENALI, is brought to life" with the Discovery Center’s newest exhibit, which will be up Sept. 14-Jan. 6, organizers say. The center, 701 NE Sanchez Ave., Ocala, is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be closed Sept. 1-13 for installation of this exhibit.
"Set in the fictitious rural Alaskan village of Qyah, the show follows the adventures of Molly Mabray, her family, friends, and dog Suki. It is infused with Alaska Native values, history, traditions, and language," organizers say. This is a "nationally traveling exhibit created by The Magic House, St. Louis Children’s Museum, in collaboration with GBH Kids and a team of Alaska Native advisors."

Fall Sunset Songs at the Downtown Square
This program, organized by the city of Ocala’s Recreation and Parks Department, will kick off 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 25 on the square, 1 SE Broadway St. "The series will occur once a month from September through December, featuring local and regional artists performing original music. All concerts are free to attend," organizers say.
The Sept. 25 show will feature Fortune Child, a power trio that plays rock, soul and blues.

The Southland Dixie Stompers
This group will perform as part of Countryside Presbyterian Church's Sunday Afternoon Concert Series. The show will be at 3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the church, 7768 SW State Road 200, Ocala. Chelsea Art Center anniversary
The center, 3305 E. Silver Springs Blvd., Ocala, is celebrating with an all-media art exhibit showcasing world-class works of 21 Central Florida artists. The works include realism and abstract works, oils, acrylics, watercolor, pastel, collage, encaustic photographs, woodcut print, fused glass and pencil drawings. The exhibit will be up Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m., through Aug. 30.
'The 2024 Extreme Pressure Biennial of American Prints'
The College of Central Florida Webber Gallery presents this "celebration of contemporary printmaking" Aug. 5-Sept. 12. "The competitive exhibition will include a variety of works by printmakers from across the United States," organizers say. "Artworks will be judged by Texas-based artist Katherine Brimberry, an intaglio master printer who is known for her 'painterly' etchings."

'Spiky Truths, Sweet Solutions: Pineapples Allegories for Healing Justice' by April Fitzpatrick
This exhibit is up through Dec. 2 at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, 1821 NW 21st Ave., Ocala. "This collection of multi-media artworks comes from Fitzpatrick’s recent artist residency in South Carolina. 'Paint Meets Dirt' by Janas Smith Durkee

'Reflections of My World'

'Attack of the Bloodsuckers!'
This exhibit at the Discovery Center is up through Aug. 31. The center is at 701 NE Sanchez Ave. and is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
"Discover the science behind bloodsucking creatures. Dive into the world of mosquitos, fleas, ticks, leeches, and other parasites. Guests will explore their characteristics, habitats, the reasons they bite and the role they play in the ecosystem. Visitors will understand how they are attracted to heat and the carbon dioxide in your breath, while learning to identify them," organizers say.

'The Great Outdoors'
This exhibition from the Ocala Camera Club and Friends is up through Dec. 16 at the Recreation and Parks Administration building, 828 NE Eighth Ave., and the Eighth Avenue Adult Activity Center, 830 NE Eighth Ave. The buildings are open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday. "Ocala Camera Club was a photography club that provided social, cultural and educational opportunities to all experience levels of photographers, from beginner to advanced amateur to professional," organizers say. "Although the club closed in December 2023, the photography friendships and lessons remain. 'The Great Outdoors' celebrates Ocala Camera Club’s final group exhibition while including some non-member photographers. This exhibition features photographs that display the different aspects of the natural world’s flora and fauna."

'Every Fiber of My Being'
This exhibition, featuring abstract fiber art by Charlita Rae Whitehead, is up at the Appleton Museum of Art through Sept. 8. "The history of making rugs goes back thousands of years and has been an important part of many cultures and traditions around the globe," the Appleton says. "Through the artist’s lens, the lineage of rug making is both celebrated and reinterpreted, honoring the resilience and ingenuity of generations past."
